Maintenance & Service Drive Belt NOTE: To replace the Drive Belt, you must first follow Auger Belt instructions. Replace the drive belt before reassembling the new auger belt. 1. Remove hairpin clip and pivot rod from unit. See Figure 15. Maneuver control arm out and disconnect drive cable. Pull idler pulley on right hand side out, releasing tension on drive belt. The flange keepers will click into place when properly secure. ASSEMBLY SET-UP Chute Clean-Out Tool A chute clean-out tool is fastened to the top of the auger housing with a mounting clip. See Figure 6. The tool is designed to clear a chute assembly of ice and snow. This item is fastened with a cable tie at the factory. Cut the cable tie before operating the snow thrower. Chute Clean-out Tool WARNING Never use your hands to clear a clogged chute assembly. Stop the engine by removing the ignition key and loosen the plastic wing knob found on the left side of the chute assembly. Pivot the chute upward or downward before retightening the wing knob. OPERATION THROTTLE CONTROL DRIVE CONTROL/ AUGER CONTROL LOCK The throttle control is located on the rear of the engine. It regulates the speed of the engine and will shut off the DRIVE engine when moved into the STOP position. CONTROL RECOIL STARTER HANDLE This handle is used to manually start the engine. ELECTRIC STARTER BUTTON Pressing the electric starter button engages the engine’s GO electric starter when plugged into a 120V power source. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE SHAVE PLATE AND SKID SHOES The shave plate and skid shoes on the bottom of the snow thrower are subject to wear. They should be checked periodically and replaced when necessary. To remove skid shoes: 1. Remove the four carriage bolts and hex flange nuts which secure them to the snow thrower. Reassemble new skid shoes with the four carriage bolts (two on each side) and hex flange nuts. Refer to Figure 17. To remove shave plate: 1. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE Chute Bracket If the spiral at the bottom of the chute directional control is not fully engaging with the chute assembly, the chute bracket can be adjusted. Loosen the two nuts which secure the chute bracket and reposi- tion it slightly. See Figure 19. Retighten the nuts.
